The story of the 35 m antenna tower.
In 2001 I decided to replace my home-built 22 m tower with something taller and more professional. After some searching I found that Géza, HA5BDJ, had a suitable tower available (sadly Géza is no longer with us). We reached an agreement and the work began. As the photo album shows, I involved my colleagues as well as fellow radio amateurs in the project. Sadly, one member of that team has also since passed away. May he rest in peace.
We installed the tower next to the house to keep the coax runs shorter. That decision came back to haunt me a little. By then the antenna lift had been completed, but because of the tower position the antenna can only be lowered to roof level. The lift has nevertheless worked reliably ever since and makes regular antenna changes much easier. Later Telenor, the mobile network operator, also made use of the tower and installed its antennas on it. They even refurbished the tower at the same time — it was due for it! Hi...
